LEED
Pustola & Associates is GOING GREEN.
Sustainable, or “green,” architecture is responsible architecture. It is responsible to the building’s occupants by increasing natural light and keeping the indoor environment free from pollutants. It is responsible to the building’s owners by keeping day-to-day operating costs lower through more efficient energy consumption. It is responsible to the community and to the environment at large by minimizing the use of non-renewable natural resources.
In an effort to help clients design and build “green” projects Pustola & Associates believes that incorporating the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification process is a step in the right direction. The process consists of a merit point system for incorporating “green” practices. The better a building is for the environment the higher the point value it receives. After reaching a certain point value a building is eligible for LEED certification. There are different levels of certification with Platinum being the highest attainable. In an effort to support this decision, our head Architect Bruce Hollis, is working toward becoming a LEED accredited professional. Having a member of the design team that is LEED accredited, will enable the design team to navigate the LEED certification process smoothly. As a bonus, having a LEED accredited professional on the design team, earns one credit towards certifying a project. Our goal is eligible LEED certification for every project.
